Classic St. Lawrence River Skiff

St. Lawrence Skiff

Each of the handmade skiffs are made from solid traditional woods. There are no resins or molds used in their construction. Each one is built using "Plank on Frame" construction, exactly the way a real full size skiff would be built. The St. Lawrence Skiff was a craft developed out of a necessity, mainly getting around the Thousand Islands safely.  It had to be sturdy, stable, easy to row and carry a good load. This was after all, the transportation of the river long before motors. No one has ever been credited with the design of the skiff, it was simply a craft that evolved by a very creative and industrious people.
